Learn How to Submit Written Testimony

It’s time to act! 

HB 3140 is scheduled for a public hearing in the House Committee on Economic Development, Small Business, and Trade on Wednesday, February 19, at 8 a.m. PST. 

We need your help to generate as much written testimony as possible supporting the bill. Please submit written testimony before 8 am PST on the 19th!

Here is a basic outline of what your written testimony should look like: 

  • The letter does not need to be long, even one paragraph can be impactful 
  • Use the letter format at the bottom of this email 
  • If available, please use business letterhead 
  • Provide a brief introduction of your organization and your goals 
  • Share any hardships you have experienced due to the current liability situation in Oregon, insurance increase related or otherwise – or explain why the issue is important to you 
  • Call out the need for Oregon to establish a balanced approach between personal responsibility and business accountability like all other Western states 
  • Be proud of your work, and be genuine about your concerns 
  • Thank members for their consideration of the bill
