In March 2026, the Oregon Legislature passed long-overdue liability waiver reform affecting recreation providers across the state.

Protect Oregon Recreation partners are hosting an educational seminar to help recreation providers, land stewards, and nonprofit organizations understand what the new law means and how it may affect their operations.

What You’ll Learn

Attendees will hear from recreation attorneys who helped craft the new law and gain practical insight into:

• The history of Oregon’s liability waiver issue and how reform was achieved
• What the new law actually does, and doesn’t do
• How the law affects recreation and fitness providers, nonprofits, and volunteer programs
• What organizations may consider when updating waivers, policies, and risk management practices
• Questions recreation providers may want to discuss with their legal counsel and insurance providers

This seminar is designed to provide context, clarity, and practical next steps for the recreation community.
